Another Year in This Magnificent Country
Hard to believe another year is already flying by here in Japan.
Every day seems to bring something new—a hidden temple, a fascinating conversation, a lesson in culture, or simply another reminder of why I chose to make Japan my home. After nearly four years of retired life here, my appreciation for this remarkable country continues to grow.
As 2026 unfolds, I plan to spend much more time updating this site with fresh stories, photos, videos, and short clips from my travels and everyday adventures. Whether it's discovering a quiet corner of Kamakura, exploring Japan's rich history, sharing observations about life as an American retiree, or simply documenting the unexpected moments that make life interesting, there's plenty more to come.
Thank you for stopping by and following along on this journey. I know I haven't always been the most diligent webmaster, but I'm committed to making this site a more useful and entertaining resource for anyone who loves Japan—or is simply curious about what life is really like here.
Take a look around, leave a comment, and let me know what you'd like to see more of.
Until next time,
Mark
